Wow... this is by far the most convoluted and technical piece of video I've ever edited! Brett (the director) and I have been spending many evenings at Channel 6 piecing together the massive amount of footage we shot back in June. Just last night, we finally finished the "rough cut," which is the movie assembled with scenes cut together in their correct order (there are over 300 different shots and the current length is just under 30 minutes). But the rough cut has no effects, color correction, music, or sweetened sound. So it still appears fairly "rough" in terms of visual appeal. That being said, it's unbelievable to see the culmination of all the hours we spent shooting into a flowing, sequential story! It's also really neat to be doing it in HD... the quality is just amazing. Brett's dad, Gary (the writer) and Tim Boling (who was a producer and works at Channel 6) came in last night and watched our rough cut. They were very impressed and also stunned to see all our work coming together. Soon, we'll be taking a brief break from editing the actual movie to work on the "trailer" to be shown at the church in Brownsburg (and I'll also put it here on my blog so you can see!). After that, it's onto building special effects and recording extra sound and music to polish it up. So we still have a long way to go... but we've definitely made a great deal of progress in the last month.
